Pattern identified from "Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns" compiled by Barbara Brackman as Star of the West, #274 dated 1897, from Ladies Art Company of St. Louis, MO.
Finished blocks with sashing 11" x 11" - 16 total
Materials:
- 24 fat eighths - assorted colors
- 7 fat quarters - assorted colors
- 2/3 yard red print for border
- 1-1/4 yard black print
- 2-1/2 yards fabric for backing
- Batting Fairfield Cotton Classic(R)
- Thread to match
- Template material
- Basic sewing supplies
Cutting Instructions:
- Trace pattern pieces onto template material. Templates include seam allowance. Transfer all markings. Cut out accurately.
- One block uses 5 different fabrics with contrast between them. Vary your fabrics as desired. Cut out as follows: Pattern A, cut 1; Pattern B, cut 5; Pattern C, cut 5; Pattern D, Cut 4. Transfer all markings to pattern pieces. Sashing strips: From assorted fabrics cut 32 strips 1-3/4" x 11-1/2"; cut 32 strips 1-3/4" x 9".
