Heirloom Garden Blocks
FINISHED BLOCK SIZE SHOULD MEASURE 10" X 12".
Block 1 (make 4*)

| A | 4 @ 2-1/2" square |
| B | Embroidery #1 |
| C | 1@ 2-1/2" X 6-1/2" |
| D | 1 @ 4-1/2" X 6-1/2" |
| E | 3 @ 2-1/2" X 6-1/2" |
| *One of these blocks is rotated when set in the quilt. Be sure that the embroidered flower is positioned accordingly. |

- Make a four-patch unit consisting of the four A squares.
- Make a subunit consisting of the three E rectangles sewn on the long side.
- Make a subunit by joining the four-patch unit to piece B short side.
- Make a subunit by sewing piece C to piece D along the long side, and then joining to subunit E so that the long dimension of the E rectangles is perpendicular to the seam.
- Sew the two subunits together along the long side.
Block 2 (Make 2)

- Make a subunit by sewing piece A long side to piece B, and then attaching the opposite side of piece B to piece C long side.
- Make a subunit by sewing piece D short side to piece E.
- Sew the two subunits together along the long side.
Block 3 (Make 6)*

| *One of these blocks is rotated when set into the quilt. Be sure to position the embroidered flower accordingly. |

- Make a subunit consisting of two B squares.
- Make a subunit consisting of two D pieces sewn along the long side.
- Piece together a subunit by sewing piece A short side to the long side of the B subunit, and then sewing the opposite long side of subunit B to piece C.
- Piece together the other subunit by attaching the D subunit to piece E. Join the opposite side of E to piece F long side.
- Attach the two subunits together along the long side.
Block 4 (Make 4)

| *Two of these blocks will be rotated when set in the quilt. Therefore, when you are piecing the block together, be sure that the embroidered flower is positioned accordingly. |

- Make a four-patch consisting of 4 C pieces forming a larger square.
- Make a subunit consisting of two E pieces sewn along the long side.
- Make a subunit by sewing piece A to piece B, long sides together.
- Make a subunit by sewing the C subunit to piece D long side. Sew this subunit to the subunit from step 3 as shown.
- Make a subunit by sewing the E subunit to piece F long side.
- Complete subunit from step 5 by sewing the opposite long side of piece F to piece G.
- Join the two subunits together along the long side.
