Read With Me

This quilt was made for Project Books and Blankies
"When I was younger, I struggled for several years trying to learn to
read. Not only was this frustrating, but it was embarrassing as
well. I remember that I used to sit with a book and a cozy quilt
while a family member would sit and patiently read with me.
Because I didn't give up on reading, new worlds opened up to me. I
wanted to share this love of books with other kids who were
struggling as I did, so I started Project Books and Blankies in
February 1999. Since that time, I have donated thousands of
books to literacy programs, shelters, classrooms and those in
need. I design and make colorful cozy quilts that accompany the
book baskets that I deliver. The blankie that I present is usually
kept in the reading corner so that kids can get cozy while reading.
The quilt will be donated to an after school literacy program along
with baskets of books for the children to read."
